Welcome to our Reception class page!
In Reception we focus heavily on learning through stories. Our topics loosely follow these books but more importantly we follow the interests of the children in our class. Our class trips are linked to these stories/topics and also the changes in the world around us and seasons.
Stoke 25 Reads for 0-5 year olds
You may have noticed our new display with lots of lovely book covers to give you ideas on what to read with your children. These books have come from the Stoke 25 Reads list. If your child reads all of these books and fills in the checklist below, they can visit their local library to get a prize! Click here:

We had a lovely time visiting Hanley Library. Kylie shared story time with us and we had chance to make our own bookmarks. The children loved visiting the sensory room too!
After visiting St. Joseph’s, we went to spend some time in our own beautiful Chapel in school.
We have been on our winter walk in the local area. We saw how much the environment has changed in this season and some of us couldn’t believe how different it was. No leaves, conkers or berries to collect on this walk!
St. Joseph’s Church
We have been learning about Baptism in our RE lessons this half term. We went to visit our Church to see the different things that we had been talking about and look at other special items there.
Our trip to Tatton Park
We had the most amazing day at Tatton Park. We got to spend some time at the farm, visit an old cottage for story time, see the reindeers, walk round a beautiful mansion and most importantly WE SAW SANTA!
Posting our letters to Santa
We walked to our nearest postbox to send our letters to Santa. We were all so sensible and so excited!
Library Booktime Visit
We always have such a lovely time when Emma comes in to visit. She bought us all a free book pack that we could take home and keep. We also read other stories that Emma had from the library.
