Modeshift Stars Award

Modeshift Stars Award

At St. Peter’s we are always striving to improve standards, the health and safety and well-being of children and working in partnership with parents.

During the Autumn term 2019 we achieved both the Bronze and Silver Modeshift Stars award and the school received a special mention in the Spring updates.

‘Special congratulations to St Peter’s Catholic Primary Academy who completed Bronze and Silver in one term and are well on their way to Gold and to Burnwood Community School who have successfully retained their Gold accreditation for 7 years!’

We are pleased to inform you that at St. Peter’s we are continuing with the award and are actively involved in achieving the Modeshift Stars Gold award. This award covers a variety of areas such as improving the journey to school, road safety and awareness for all children, bicycle courses and lots more. It is a great opportunity for the school to support the children in developing essential life skills.

One of our main targets here at St. Peter’s is to get more of our children travelling to school using their bikes or scooters and wearing helmets. Don’t forget we have safe places to park your bikes and scooters so why not travel to school on them today?!

More information on Modeshift Stars can be found here.

Our School Events for 2021-22

Year 2 Scooter Workshop – 24th January 2022

A big thank you to BeeActive who came into school to teach Year 2 scooter safety skills. The children were taught how to check the scooters and also how to ride their scooters around obstacles checking behind them or stepping off when around pedestrians. They also learned how to use their scooters safely when out of the road and we went out into the local area to practise these important skills just opposite the school. The children really enjoyed their session and are excited to start using their own scooters to travel to school. Well done Year 2!

Reception and Year 1 Bike Ability Week – 24th – 28th April 2022

We are so proud of our Reception and Year 1 children this week. By Day 4 and most of the children had moved from balance bikes to bikes with pedals and no stabilisers. What amazing children we have!

Seatbelt Safety Year 2 & Year 3 – 16th June 2022

In May our Year 2 and 3 children took part in seatbelt safety sessions and learning why it is so important to always wear them when travelling in any vehicle

Stepping out Programme Year 4 & Year 5 (Road Safety Morning) – 20th May 2022

Year 5 had a fantastic Road Safety session this morning, learning all about the safe places to cross roads and how to be aware of our surroundings.

Bike to School week & Walk to School Week- Autumn 2021

A big thank you to all children and parents who travelled to school by bike or by walking during our Bike/Walk to school weeks. It was great to see you all arriving safely on your bikes wearing your helmets and being safe near the roads when walking.
