What does science look like in our school?
Pupils develop their substantive and disciplinary knowledge through a progressive science curriculum.
We deliver the National Curriculum for science through weekly, discrete science lessons. We also provide our pupils with a wide range of experiences to enrich our science curriculum. This includes a range of trips, workshops, visitors and forest school lessons that are linked to science. All classes from Reception to Year 6 have the chance to attend at least one science-related after-school club within the academic year.
How can I help at home?
In the whole school curriculum overview, you can see exactly what your child is learning about in Science at different parts of the year.
BBC Bitesize has some fantastic videos and games to support all areas of the National Curriculum.

World Space Week 2025
We are excited to announce that we will be celebrating World Space Week on the 6th–10th October.
This year the theme is 'Living in Space', focusing on humanity's endeavours to establish habitats and sustainable activities in space. The children will be taking part in space-themed activities during their science lessons and creating a piece of art for our space week art competition based upon this year's theme.
Year 5 and Year 6 will be taking part in some workshops delivered by the National Science Laboratory.
Year 5 competition winners and collegiate science morning at Saint Margaret Ward, March 2025
Year 5 completed a special science challenge in their class. The winning group went to Saint Margaret Ward to compete against other schools in a range of other investigations. The boys in the winning group were fantastic representatives of our school, demonstrating good teamwork and scientific skills.
British Science Week, March 2025
This year, all classes watched an interactive science show led by 'Science Made Simple'.
The shows were based upon science in the real-world, careers related to science and included practical demonstrations. We also launched a whole school science competition – we had lots of amazing entries... well done to our overall winners included below!
We will be taking part in British Science Week 2026 next year with the theme
"Curiosity .... What's your question?"
Science Clubs
We ensure that all year groups from Reception onwards are able to attend a science club after school throughout the year.
