School Council

Meet this years school council

What is the School Council?

The school council works to make improvements to the school and the way we do things at St Peter’s. We look around for things that could be better and discuss what to do. Everyone gets a chance to speak and when we’ve finished we vote on the best ideas and then start working on changing things. Sometimes we have to talk to teachers and sometimes we have to make phone calls to people outside of the school.

Who are the School Councillors?
Every year we run an election campaign to vote for two new representatives for each class. A good representative will speak at the council meetings about things that their class is interested in. They will also tell their class about what is going on in the council meetings and put the minutes up in the classroom.

We have lots of plans for this year so keep an eye on this page to see what we are up to.

During our first meeting the children have been discussing options for the end of year 100% Attendance and highest class attendance reward trip. The children have come up with 3 options which we have put onto an online voting form for the classes to vote for. Check back to see what the children have voted for this year!

Last year the school council achieved these things!

The children expressed an interest in a cosy outside, sheltered reading area which they have had lots of ideas for. This is now set up outside. Children have the opportunity to choose a story book and use blankets etc in the cold weather.

We have created a new e-safety policy for all the children. This gives us lots of advice on how to stay safe when using the internet and what to do if we don’t feel safe. Click on the link to have a look.  esafety Policy – children

The children also raised there was not enough equipment to use at playtimes and dinner times. They made suggestions and then the equipment was ordered alongside with an outside shed for storage for daily use.
